UKAS – the United Kingdom Accreditation Service – is the national body for accreditations in the UK. They have been appointed by the UK Government to assess any organisation that offers certification schemes, inspection, testing or calibration services.
UKAS accreditation puts a duty on organisations to certify members completely impartially, against agreed standards. It is in place to deliver confidence for all parties, including end-users, the industry and Government.
Certass has been UKAS accredited since 2006.
The certificate that is issued when you self-certify a job is called a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate (BRCC) – they can be issued by UKAS accredited certification bodies, such as Certass and FENSA. Sometimes BRCCs are called Certass or FENSA Certificates depending on who they are issued by, but they both prove that a window and door installation complies with Building Regulations and that the installation has been registered with the Local Authority.
